Rows of solar panels in Bali, Indonesia

PAGE Indonesia joined the West Java Energy Forum 2023, on 25-25 June, to contribute in one of its focus group discussions (FGDs) on accelerating energy transition through solar PV systems. The event title “Unlocking Sustainable Financing for West Java Circular Economy Development” was co-organized by the Government of West Java and Bank Indonesia.

PAGE National Coordinator Diah Pratiwi presented the business models involving innovative financing mechanism for the installation of solar PV rooftop at school and governmental buildings in West Java.

These models were co-developed together by PAGE Indonesia, its implementing partner and key stakeholders in 2022 to accelerate energy transition in the province and unlock potential private investments for green projects as part of the LCDI implementation in West Java towards green economy.

The semi-joint venture model which involves provincial enterprise, private sector (EPC company), banking and blended finance was particularly discussed during the focus group discussions.

The focus group discussions brought together representatives from West Java Provincial Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA), West Java Education Agency, Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), the Government and Regional Autonomy Bureau (Biro Pemotda), Regional Enterprise, Investment, and Administration Bureau (Biro BIA), West Java Regional Enterprise – PT MUJI, and Indonesia State Electricity Company (PLN) Icon+.

PAGE was launched in 2013 as a response to the call at Rio+20 to support countries addressing one of the greatest challenges of our time: building economies that improve human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. Indonesia joined PAGE in 2018.
