A new generation of sustainable and green business leaders

Young entrepreneurs awarded for their green and sustainable work. PAGE South Africa hosted the Driving Force for Change Awards Ceremony along with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE). DFC is a youth support initiative that provides non-financial support in the in areas of climate change, waste and biodiversity, with the view to contributing to achieving our Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and the SDGs.

The ILO-PAGE team is a key partner to the initiative and works with the service provider to offer 16 youth entrepreneurs business mentorship and coaching for green economic recovery. The ILO was represented by Dr Bernd Mueller who spoke as in the officer in charge in absence of Joni Musabayana, the Pretoria Office Country Director. The keynote speech was delivered by Minister Barbara Creecy, who also launched the Green Business Guideline for SMME’s, start-ups and entrepreneurs. The project is ending in the coming months and will soon host a closing ceremony.

The Minister launched Driving Force for Change II Youth Challenge in August 2021 in partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), through the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) programme. The work is supported by PAGE partners namely the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL), Department of Science and Innovation and of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTI&C), the German Technical Agency (GIZ), and the National Business Initiative (NBI).
