COUNTRY UPDATES (APRIL 2018)

Burkina Faso: PAGE is currently undertaking a green trade and non-timber forest products study in Burkina Faso.

Ghana: A Green Finance Study is advancing. A survey on the pipeline of green projects is being administered among private and financial sector stakeholders and policymakers this month to inform the study.

Mauritius: A Green Economy Learning Assessment validation workshop took place on the 25th of April. PAGE partnered with the Civil Service College of Mauritius for conducting this study.

Peru: A national Forum for the promotion of Green Jobs took place in Lima, on the 19th of April. It was organized by PAGE, the Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion (MTPE) and with the support of the European Union.

Senegal: PAGE has been asked to support a green bond initiative in the country, with work-planning set to take place over the next month.

South Africa: A Green Economy Indicators Stocktaking will take place at the Department of Environmental Affairs in South Africa, on 16 May. The workshop aims to engage with relevant stakeholders, including policymakers and technical experts to identify priority green economy indicators in light of South Africa’s Development Plan (NDP), Medium-Term Strategic Framework and the SDGs, amongst other activities.

Uruguay: PAGE has started to support several policies, including on the following areas:

  • Development of a Strategic Enviromental Assessment for the forestal-wood-cellulose chain within the framework of the strategic planning process;
  • Identification and characterization of the productive "brown" activities with a strong link between poverty and environment.
