In 2013, the Government of Seychells introduced the “Seychelles Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Program” (SEEREP). The main objective of SEEREP is to encourage the adoption of energy-efficient home appliances, lighting, consumables, and solar water heaters in the domestic residential sector through a loan facility.

Seychelles is also taking steps towards increasing the proportion of renewable energy use, with up to 10% of electricity being produced by wind.
