Argentina: April 2019 - PAGE supported the development of an assessment report on Green Jobs Potential in Argentina in 2017/2018

Barbados: October 2018 - Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation Programme is being implemented as part of the country's IMF agreement. Among Green and Blue Economy national Stakeholders, PAGE is being promoted as an enabling mechanism in support of national sustainable development efforts.

Brazil (Mato Grosso State): February 2019 - PAGE contracted the Foundation for Support and Development of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (Uniselva Foundation) to assess the technical and economic potential for the generation and use of solar energy and other biomass sources in Mato Grosso. The study aims at the elaboration of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Renewable Energy in Mato Grosso.
Furthermore, PAGE is supporting the elaboration of guidelines for the standardization and certification of Sustainable Tourism Products, to be conducted by SEBRAE Mato Grosso. 

Burkina Faso: April 2019 - ILO focal point together with the National Coordinator and the National Focal Point meet with the Director General of Green Economy and Climate Change, Maison de l’Entreprise du Burkina Faso and the Master trainer on GERME for Burkina Faso to select 5 to 10 enterprises to receive a support  to complete the greening of their businesses. This support shall lead to the development of a package for training and coaching green entrepreneurs. This pilot coaching and training of selected enterprises will serve as a basis to upscale the greening of the enterprises in Burkina Faso. 

China: June 2018 - PAGE, together with the Policy Research Center for Environment & Economy and the Jiangsu International Environmental Development Center held a workshop to lay the groundwork for developing a coalition of green industrial parks in Jiangsu.

Ghana: April 2019 - PAGE is supporting the development of a national industrial resource efficiency policy and programme, using lessons learned from demonstration projects in the oil palm and steel sectors that aim to show how significant resource savings (energy, water and materials) could result from such a policy. The proposed policy and programme will also draw on examples of policy and programmes in Tunisia and South Africa. Both the demonstration projects and recommendations on the policy/programme should be completed by June 2019.

Guyana: April 2019 - PAGE supported capacity building for media workers on green economy concepts; for public and private sector professionals in green fiscal policies; and economic modeling (system dynamics) for professionals in public sector finance. These workshops were conducted for building capacity to implement the Green State Development Strategy: Vision 2040, Guyana's inclusive green economy policy document.

IndonesiaFebruary 2019 -PAGE has provided support to the Ministry of National Development Planning in identifying policy interventions for the green economy modelling exercise under the national Low Carbon Development Initiative (LCDI).  The modelling exercise is part of the development of Indonesia’s Medium Term National Development Plan RPJMN 2020-2024.

India:  April 2019 - India has taken several steps in resource efficiency related work. A guiding document as ‘Policy Brief on Resource Efficiency’ was launched by Ministry the of Environment, Forest and Climate Change last year, which aims at mainstreaming a Resource Efficiency (RE) & Secondary Raw Materials (SRM) strategy based on life-cycle approach targeting reduced abiotic resource use, especially of high priority materials in selected sectors, and addressing issues that cut across life-cycle, materials and sectors. The Ministry has also set up a Resource Efficiency Cell along with a high-level resource efficiency steering committee which aims to mainstream sustainable production and consumption in policy and practice in the country. UN Environment is a member of the steering committee on RE established by MoEF&CC.

 

KazakhstanMarch 2019 - From 26th February - 1st March, the PAGE Inception Mission took place. As a result from the meetings, a first full work programme beginning in July 2019 is being developed. PAGE work streams will be aligned with the WGs under the national green economy council, and possibilities to support work on SDG integration in collaboration with the Economics Research Institute of the Ministry of National Economy were discussed.

Kyrgyz RepublicFebruary 2019 - PAGE supported the Ministry of Economy as a key coordinating state agency in implementation of the PAGE Initiative in the country within ongoing development initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic related to green economy to integrate inclusive green economy principals into national strategic documents and sectoral strategies. 

Mauritius: April 2019 - PAGE/UNEP FI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development have initiated discussions in January to start a study that will facilitate SME’s access to finance and that will help to strengthen implementation of the SME Master Plan that was launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Business. A working group consisting of stakeholders from the public and private sectors has been set up to oversee the implementation of the green finance project.

Mongolia: April 2019 - The government of Mongolia adopted the National Policy in the Construction Sector in Mongolia. PAGE supported the consultation of the working group to review the draft policy document and supported the integration of concepts related to green economy, sustainable development and climate change.

PeruFebruary 2019 - The National Competitiveness and Productivity Policy was formally adopted on 31 December 2018PAGE has supported the installment of the public-private committee for the drafting of the Environmental Sustainability Chapter of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Plan (Objective 9). The committee met on March 19th during a workshop, under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment; divided into 5 thematic working groups, and started formulating ideas of possible green growth measures that will feed into the plan.

SenegalFebruary 2019 - PAGE co-organized a Green Entrepreneurship Training Workshop in Senegal. The training provided the basis for promoting the integration of the environmental dimension in the supply, production and marketing functions of existing companies' goods and services; orientation towards green business ideas and, where appropriate, the creation of green businesses in Senegal.

South Africa: January 2019 - All PAGE resident donors in South Africa participated in the last NSC meeting and received briefing of the PAGE Ministerial Conference.

UruguayFebruary 2019 -  PAGE supported several following activities:, amongst them the ellaboration of a strategic environmental assessment for the forest-wood-cellulose chain; a workshop presenting the final report of the consultancy for the analysis of the available models of evaluation of macroeconomic impact of environmental policies; as well as the planning of activities for the development of a National Award on Circular Economy.
